JM was drinking his coffee at the local mall and writing a short zombie story on his smartphone when a piercing scream filled every corner of the place.

He looked up and saw an actual horde lurking towards him.

“Fuck this, I am not done with my coffee.” He said and remained sit on the white chair while sipping his coffee.

The horde was closing in, but, as terrifying it could be, it was not as terrifying as boredom. That was why he had summoned them in the first place. That, and because he hated malls. He had just come there to avoid the boredom at his home, with the endless nonsense chattering that filled it most part of the day.

He took another sip, and the horde vanished. Zombies were boring after so many years of abuse of the genre.

So had been malls. He could remember the day they inaugurated this one. 1998. He was still a kid, and the place had been the most popular and biggest shopping center in town. And still was one of them, after some reforms, though.

JM knew malls were a dying breed. Many had disappeared around the world.

It was hilarious. When he was a kid, people complained that malls were killing small shops. Now Amazon was killing the mall.

He finished the story and his coffee.
