There Is so Much to Learn

A brief reflection on my passion for learning

When I was a kid, I hated studying. I disliked boring school books and spent my time daydreaming instead of paying attention to class. One thing I often dreamed about was a machine that wouldn’t allow me to put books inside my mind so I wouldn’t have to learn them; That’s how much I hated sitting on the same spot for over 20 minutes with a book I didn’t like.

After many years, I have changed my views, and now I love learning. I cannot picture something better than gaining a new skill or knowledge that will help me in the future.

Guitar, maths, graphic design, meditation, new languages… Everything suits me.

I devour book after book and I have realized something: I don’t have enough time to read them all, to practice everything. It’s impossible to learn everything without ceasing to sleep, eat, or whatever.

And now I remember that device I dreamed of, the machine that allows you to download books into your mind. It would be beautiful to cheat life a bit, take a shortcut and learn part of the stuff in no time.

Life is short, and we know so little.
